When Arizona was first formed and created, it had a ton of gold, copper, silver, and many other unique minerals. The Arizona land was very good for farming, crops, raising cattle and sheep, and also very good for mining. 

 

The first Arizonans, lived in AD 500. They were big-game hunters. They were also hunter-gathers, and they did small-scale farming. Arizonans lived in small shelters in river valleys.

 

In 1539, a European, Spanish man, named Marcos de Niza, was the first to explore the Arizona land. He was searching for the Seven Citys of Gold, which were cities that were very rich in gold and other very useful minerals. Francisco Vasquez de Cornado soon after went to the Arizona land to lead an expedition as far as the Grand Canyon in search of some of the gold and other minerals.

 

In 1775 Fort Tuscan was founded and established by a big group of Spanish. In 1848, the Mexican War broke out, after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago ended the war, a lot of Arizona’s land became U.S. territory, and later on all of Arizona’s land became U.S. territory.

 

Irragation was big in the 1900’s, there were streams used for irragation in 200,000 acres of land. In the 1980’s Arizona, and a lot of other states had outstanding economic growth, because of the high-tech machines they were starting to use. There was also hydroelectric machines by the Colorado River, therefore Arizona and Colorado had to share water from river. 

 

Arizona had a controversy in 1992 that lasted 6 years to have an annual Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday to remember what he did and how he was such a good man, that Arizona voters approved.
